What reviewers say

The reviewers who like it have often kept it for years: one calls it her bestie after the better part of a decade, another a holy grail, and one found it was the only product that works for her fine, oily hair. A reviewer with low-porosity 3B-3C-4A, high-density hair highly recommends it, and another liked it more than Pillow Soft when the shop ran out. Not everyone agrees. One reviewer with extremely dense hair needed something richer once she was over half grey, and another with coarse, low-porosity hair found it worked for a while but now leaves her hair stringy, with a chemical scent that bothers her.

Praised for

  • Works across fine, oily and thick, low-porosity hair
  • A long-term staple for some
  • Light, lemony scent for one reviewer
  • Usually $12-15, according to one reviewer

Complaints

  • Stringy on coarse, low-porosity hair, for one reviewer
  • Not rich enough once hair turned grey, for another
  • A chemical scent, for one

I've used them since probably 2010. They've got a great line with something for everyone (white chick with low porosity half-grey 3B and I've used and liked Jelly Soft, Quick Curls, Feather Soft, MultiCultural Curls and the leave in conditioner; I feel like I've tried others too) but the scents are an enormous drawback if you're at all sensitive to strong smells - I'm not, generally, in hair care but they're still too much - and if you're strictly CG most of their stuff has silicones or other no-nos. But thanks to this thread I'm fighting with myself not to add a tube of Feather Soft to my Amazon cart, if that tells you anything.

I got it by accident when the store was out of Pillow Soft. I was sceptical of products for "mixed" hair, but I was pleasantly surprised and like it even more than Pillow Soft.

Yeah it is great! I got the multi cultural curls by accident on a grocery order bc the store was out of pillow soft. I was kind of disappointed at first bc I have used hair products before that were targeted for 'mixed' hair and they did not work. When I used it I was pleasantly surprised and even like it better than the pillow soft curls

After trying many products, it and the leave-in are chef's kiss on my hair.

I use the leave in and multi cultural curls. I've tried soooo many products and these two are just chef's kiss on my hair.

My holy grail for years, but once my hair was over 50% grey my texture changed and I needed something richer. I miss the light lemony smell.

I have extremely dense, fine 3b/3c hair and Multicultural was my holy grail product for years. But once my hair got to over 50% grey, my texture changed and I needed to switch to something richer. But I miss it. I loved the light lemony smell and it really made my curls feel great.

It worked for a while, but now it makes my hair stringy, and the chemical scent bothers me.

Hi, for my coarse texture low porosity loose 3a ish curls, multicultural curl cream worked for a bit but now makes my hair stringy. The smell also has a very chemical scent that bothers me. I wanted to like leave in condish but it smells like fabric softener and the product texture feels gluey and soapy at the same time, as if it could lather up. I would say jelly soft curls has the best scent and was the most effective when I used to use it.
