What reviewers say
Nearly everyone who mentions it is a fan. Reviewers call it a holy grail, a number one for ten years, and the standard they compare other gels to. One says her curls stay intact all day, even while dancing and sweating, and another moved back to it because other gels left her hair scrunchy. A reviewer with coarse, low-porosity hair thought it had the best scent and was the most effective product she used. The one real criticism comes from a reviewer with fine 2B-3A hair, who found it didn’t work and weighed her hair down, and returned it after two tries. Other reviewers wish it were cheaper or came with more product.
Praised for
- Soft, defined curls that last all day
- Holds through dancing and sweating
- Not scrunchy or stiff

Complaints
- Weighed down fine 2B-3A hair, for one reviewer
- Pricey for the amount
- The brand’s scent, for some

I rake a small blob over the leave-in and finger curl; my curls stay intact all day, even dancing and sweating.

My number ones to the point that when I visit my partner's folks in the US I buy a year's supply. I use the leave-in condish daily after my shower and it's helped me going from knotty misery on wash days to defined curls with no tangles. I also love the jelly soft curls for after the condish, I rake through a small blob, finger curl, and boom done and the curls stay intact all day. Slightly larger blob for like weddings and stuff where there will be dancing and sweating, but even then it is SO good

I've used them since probably 2010. They've got a great line with something for everyone (white chick with low porosity half-grey 3B and I've used and liked Jelly Soft, Quick Curls, Feather Soft, MultiCultural Curls and the leave in conditioner; I feel like I've tried others too) but the scents are an enormous drawback if you're at all sensitive to strong smells - I'm not, generally, in hair care but they're still too much - and if you're strictly CG most of their stuff has silicones or other no-nos. But thanks to this thread I'm fighting with myself not to add a tube of Feather Soft to my Amazon cart, if that tells you anything.

My #1 for 10 years, and the standard I compare new products to.

Jelly soft curls is my girllllll. I was put on by a friend 10 years ago and she's still my #1. I've tried other products here and there, usually when I want more of a cast or a lower price, but jelly soft curls is always the standard and what I compare a new product to. Nowadays I'm more likely to add a product to my routine (leave in/mousse) rather than try to replace miss jessie's. I also like señora rizos and pillow soft curls, but the latter doesn't agree with my scalp. Coily custard is the only miss from the brand for me, but I know a lot of people love it too

The best scent and the most effective when I used it.

Hi, for my coarse texture low porosity loose 3a ish curls, multicultural curl cream worked for a bit but now makes my hair stringy. The smell also has a very chemical scent that bothers me. I wanted to like leave in condish but it smells like fabric softener and the product texture feels gluey and soapy at the same time, as if it could lather up. I would say jelly soft curls has the best scent and was the most effective when I used to use it.

The leave in conditioner, jelly soft curls and green quick curls are regular staples in my routine. hate the curly pudding, smells weird to me and weighs down my hair.

Amazing: other gels I try make my hair scrunchy, so I'm going back to Jelly Soft for defined, soft curls.

Didn't work at all and weighed down my fine hair; I returned it after trying it twice.

Pillow soft curls is my absolute go to for soft, no crunchy hold whatsoever. My curls are a looser but not weighed down and I personally value volume over neatness. Jelly curls did not work for me at all, it weighed down my fine hair. I think I only tried it twice before I returned it, it was an absolutely not for me. I have fine hair, somewhere between 2b-3a depending on how my hair's attitude is that day.

I have fine 2C-3A hair. Dollar General released a hair care line called Curl Rhythm and I’m obsessed with it. The entire line is fantastic for my hair. I’m super sensitive to fragrances, & Curlsmith products trigger a bad allergy on my scalp, but the Curl Rhythm line doesn’t bother me at all. I also love Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls & Jelly Soft Curls, Mielle Babassu & Mint deep conditioner, Mielle pomegranate & honey curl defining mousse (used very sparingly on my hair) and when I can muster the effort, I love home made flaxseed gel.
