Is it worth the money?
Mostly positive47 commenters analysed
Well liked, pricey and consistent. The Curl Maker gel is the favourite, though its hold is only medium.
Most reviewers like the brand, and several call it solid and consistent, with smells that most reviewers enjoy. The Curl Maker gel has by far the most fans, praised for hydration and a silky finish, while its hold gives out in humidity for some and it flakes on a few. The Moisture Milk leave-in softens coils but is thick enough that several reviewers dilute it. The recurring complaints are price, a handful of reviewers whose hair felt dry or like straw, and slow-drying, heavy formulas.
- More promising for
- Thick, dry, low-porosity or coily hair that wants hydration and soft definition.
- Think twice if
- Your hair is fine and easily weighed down, you want a firm cast, or you live somewhere humid and want hold that lasts.

What's most important for your hair?
Fine hair that is easily weighed down
Why The Curl Maker is the safest bet: a reviewer with fine 2B/3A hair is on her fifth bottle and says one lasts six months or more. The thick, creamy products are riskier. A reviewer with fine but plentiful hair found the Moisture Milk unusable until she diluted it, and a fine-haired reviewer who hasn’t tried the range expects it to be too heavy.
Drawbacks Medium hold, with no firm cast; Soft or swollen curls in humidity.
Thick, dry, coily hair
Why This is where the range gets its warmest reviews. A reviewer with type 4 coils says nothing leaves her hair as soft as the Moisture Milk, and a reviewer with 3C/4A hair loves the Curl Maker alone or under a stronger gel, though it flakes on her. A household with 3B-4C hair uses the Algae Renew mask, though reviewers run through it fast.
Drawbacks Too thick to be called a milk; Needs diluting on fine hair.
Also consider Curl Maker, Algae Renew Hair Mask
A firm cast that lasts
The comments don't point clearly to one Camille Rose product for this, so here is what reviewers said.
Why The Curl Maker is a medium-hold gel, and reviewers who wanted a crunchy cast or hold through humid weather found it too soft. Its humectants can keep curls flexible or even swollen in humid air. One reviewer swapped it for Uncle Funky’s Daughter, which holds better with similar shine and definition.
Probably skip Curl Maker
Not sure where to start
Why Start with the Curl Maker, the most reviewed product and the one most reviewers like. One buys it on sale, and another says it is cheaper than a similar gel depending where you buy it. Be wary of dryness: three reviewers found products from the line left their hair dry or like straw, including one whose hair dried out when she used too much Moisture Milk.
Drawbacks Medium hold, with no firm cast; Soft or swollen curls in humidity.

My ride or die hair product is their curl maker gel!!!!! I’m on my 5th bottle. I find the balance of the hydration and hold perfect for my 2b&3a hair. I use it to refresh all well. Not a strong hold but amazing for loose and undone curls. And works for me in both extremly cold and warm climates.
MixedCurl MakerReddit comment
I love the moisture, the smell and the medium-ish hold, but its many humectants stop it forming a cast or lasting in high humidity (swelling and frizz). I now make my own gel.

I love the moisture and the smell and the medium-ish hold of the curl maker gel. However, upon looking into ingredients, the gel has quite a few humectants, which in high humidity climates, don’t create the cast or hold up long enough due to bringing water into the hair and culausing the hair to swell and frizz. I now look for products that don’t have as many humectants or just make my own

i love the moisture milk almost nothing leaves my hair as soft sadly i it goes quickly, the pear conditioner is also one of the only conditioner ms that detangle and absorb nicely in my hair, and last i love the ginger cleansing shampoo it’s great for in between washes you just squeeze it throughout your roots and rinse it and it feels so clean and refreshing without stripping definitely recommend as type 4 coils

I’ve only tried 3 products. The algae renew hair mask 10/10 I think my only problem with it was I basically used it up in a month but that might’ve been because I was using too much. It smells incredible too and I would get compliments from strangers all the time about the smell of my hair. The guava slip shampoo 8/10 it’s really good if your hair gets tangled when shampooing and very hydrating, but it just didn’t feel like it was cleaning my hair that well, but it’s definitely a go to shampoo especially in the winter when my hair is drier. The curl maker 7/10 I definitely got beautiful and hydrated results from this gel but my only problem is that it takes soooooo long to dry. So I only ever used it on days where I had more time to defuse my hair for longer.

They have very good consistent products. Fav is the underrated Jansyn deep conditioner, I like it better than Algae renew. The smells are great and most products perform as advertised. My biggest issue is I have basically found replacements I prefer for each one of their products. Curl maker is great but its hold isn’t the best and I replaced it with Uncle Funky’s Daughter which gives me a better hold with similar shine and definition. Their ginger hair rinse was nice but I’ve had ones that do a better job cleaning. Moisture milk is a nice leave in that smells great but I get better results with comparably priced products and if I’m splurging I’d rather go with Olaplex 5. The algae renew just wasn’t giving my hair the moisture it needed but it was a great experience. I have yet to replace the Jansyn deep conditioner though, that stuff is magic. Overall a solid brand they’re just too expensive for what you get.

Love the gel. Bought the curl milk online and felt duped at how thick it is. Not a milk at all. Also hated the smell, but it must be my nose, it translated as puke... Am using the ginger rinse which is a chelating shampoo. I like using it, thick texture, doesn’t dry out, but my water is too hard so I need something stronger.
