How is the Curl Score calculated?
We read 4 public Reddit discussions and logged each person's opinion of each product as positive, mixed or negative, and members add theirs when they review a product here. The Curl Score puts those on a scale of 1 to 5: every opinion positive would be 5, every one negative 1, and an even split 3, with a mixed opinion counting as half positive. Passing mentions aren't opinions, so they don't count, and each person counts once per product. Every brand is scored the same way, but these are comments, not verified purchases or a survey. The verdict
A well-liked custard for soft, defined, bouncy curls and refresh days, though too heavy for some.
The full verdict
Reviewers call it their favourite styling product and say they’ve had compliments since starting it. It leaves curls soft yet defined, works as a leave-in, smells nice and suits refresh days, and one reviewer uses it when they want a looser look. One reviewer finds it great on a curly bob but not enough for longer or shorter hair. The doubts: too heavy for one reviewer, dandruff for another, and not much on its own for a third.
- Best for
- Soft definition on medium-length curls, alone or under a gel
- Skip it if
- Your hair is fine, or you need firm hold

I liked it as a leave-in and my curls were cute, but my scalp didn't like it and I got dandruff.

I use TGIN Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer, sounds like just a leave-in but it had a bit of hold to it (I get it at TJ-Maxx for ~$9). Or if I want something stronger I use TGIN Curl Bomb (again at TJ-Maxx for around ~$9). Both of these are unfortunately raising in price in places like Target for the past while though and are now like $15 there so that's why I try to hunt for them at TJs. Or if I want something loose I use Aunt Jackie's Curl La La ($7 at Target).

My favourite; it leaves my hair soft yet still defined, and it's great for refresh days.

My curls were lovely, soft and bouncy, and the product smells nice; I haven't tried it with a gel yet.

My go-to at mid length: great for a curly bob, but it doesn't handle frizz when my hair is too long, and doesn't give enough hold for short hair with cowlicks.

In my styling rotation; the price is great for the amount of product. Not holy grails, but worth keeping on the shelf.

I don't feel it does much on its own, though everything smells great.
